Loki 2 writer spills the beans: After the huge success of Avengers: Endgame, everyone’s excited about the fifth Avengers movie, The Kang Dynasty. They’re setting up Jonathan Majors’ character, He Who Remains, as the main bad guy in Tom Hiddleston’s Loki 2. Majors plays different versions of this character in various realities, each one like its own character. In Loki 2, he’s Victor Timely, a shy 19th-century businessman with some tricky moves. But how they’ll continue his character in the MCU is still uncertain.
In a recent talk with Comic Book, Eric Martin, the head writer of Loki, explained that they focused on developing the character of Victor Timely in Loki 2. Majors’ character in the series stutters, making people wonder if he was born at the wrong time in Loki 2. Martin said, “You expect this powerful villain, but instead, you find someone a bit of a trickster. He knows what he’s doing. He’s just born at the wrong time.”

Martin shared that they purposely didn’t dive into the future Kang’s scary side to give Loki’s version of Jonathan Majors its own uniqueness. “We thought about using stuff from the comics, but we decided to do our own version of him,” he added. According to Martin, they had the freedom to create the villain’s story without tying it to other MCU projects. “We were doing our own thing,” he said.
What’s next for Kang in the MCU?
Even though we’re not sure about the plot of Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty, it seems like Kang is trying to take over Earth. This might lead to a big clash between different realities, hinted at in Avengers’ Secret Wars. Loki 2 and the upcoming movie, The Marvels, are just giving us hints of a bigger picture, setting the stage for another massive battle like Avengers: Endgame.
The last episode of Loki 2 will be on Disney+ Hotstar on Thursday, November 9.
