As the follow-up to Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), Tiger 3 has Katrina playing Zoya again alongside Salman Khan’s super spy, Avinash Singh Rathore. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the movie is part of Yash Raj Films’ spy world and continues the story after the events in the studio’s movie released in January, Pathaan.
Katrina says, “Adi and I talk a lot. Every week, I find him and ask for his thoughts on different things. So, we’re always talking about it.
“We’ve been working together for a long time, even before Adi started working on ‘Pathaan.’ We used to talk about these characters.”
Katrina talks about how cool the spy world is, including Hrithik Roshan’s “War,” and how it’s becoming a well-thought-out series of movies.
“The characters are strong and unique, and thatâs what’s great about it. Each character adds to the whole story,” she explains.
“Tiger 3,” released on November 12 during Diwali, got praise in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, making around Rs 324 crore worldwide. The film, with Emraan Hashmi also in it, is a big success.
Talking about the third movie, Katrina says they aimed to make a good story with interesting characters and better action scenes.
“With each movie, you learn more about the character and go deeper into the story. This lets you do more because you’re more confident in your space,” she says. She adds that success at the box office feels like getting good grades in exams.
Katrina believes the special thing about the “Tiger” movies is the exciting story, well-crafted characters, and intense action scenes.
She gives credit to Kabir Khan, the director of “Ek Tha Tiger,” for coming up with the idea of two spy agents, Tiger and Zoya. She also praises Ali Abbas Zafar for making the sequel, “Tiger Zinda Hai,” even bigger.
“Tiger 3” is a team effort, with Adi contributing to great action films and Maneesh bringing in a new perspective. The dynamic between Tiger and Zoya opens up lots of storytelling possibilities.
Katrina compares it to famous franchises like ‘Mission Impossible,’ ‘Bourne Identity,’ and ‘James Bond,’ highlighting the dynamic stories agents can have, offering many possibilities.
Reuniting with Salman Khan is always fun for Katrina. They’ve worked together on many films, like “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya,” “Yuvvraaj,” “Partner,” and “Bharat.”
“There are days when Salman surprises me. He comes with new energy or a different approach. Salman is honest, and everything is very genuine. It comes out of nowhere, and the whole scene lights up.
“Thatâs always fun and special because we’ve done quite a few films over the years. You get to know that person, their rhythm, how they come on set, what they are thinking, and how their mood is. And itâs fun when you can surprise each other,” she says.
Katrina loves action movies and is a big fan of Hollywood stars like Charlize Theron and Halle Berry. She admires their strong and layered characters in action-packed films.
âIâve always been a fan of Charlize Theronâs action films and Halle Berryâs action films. Whether it was âJohn Wickâ or Anne Hathway in âBatman,â I love these characters. I think they are so layered, feisty, and strong.
“I can connect to that kind of physicality, determination, perseverance, and willingness to fight till the end,â she says.
Katrina’s next movie is Sriram Raghavan’s much-anticipated film, “Merry Christmas,” set to release on January 12, featuring Vijay Sethupathi alongside her.
