Why A Contestant from China Qi Jia will no longer be competing? Reason
The 72nd edition of Miss Universe, known as Miss Universe 2023, is scheduled to take place soon. This renowned global beauty pageant will happen at El Salvador’s José Adolfo Pineda Arena on November 18. However, it seems that Qi Jia, the Chinese representative, might not participate in the competition.
Taking part in Miss Universe and representing your country is a big dream for models. But sometimes, issues like visa problems make it impossible to join. The 72nd Miss Universe is happening from November 15-18. All contestants arrived in El Salvador at the start of this month. Sadly, Qi Jia had visa troubles, so she arrived late and missed some early competitions. Because of this, she had to step down as this year’s representative.
The official Miss Universe China Instagram page shared an update about the competition happening from November 15 to 18. Jia Qi, the champion, and the organizing team applied for her visa right after she won. But delays in getting the visa meant she missed over a week of events after flying to El Salvador once she got it. This made it impossible for her to compete in this year’s international event.
Later, there was an update saying that Qi Jia’s journey isn’t over yet. China will be represented in the Miss Universe 2024 competition by the 2023 Miss Universe China!
For those who might not know, El Salvador will host the beauty pageant for the first time in history. The event will be hosted and presented by TV personalities Jeannie Mai Jenkins and Maria Menounos. Former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo is also reported to join the duo.
